Overview

ReadGazer helps you understand academic papers using AI. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.

Information We Collect

Documents You Upload

When you upload a PDF, we store it to provide our reading and annotation services. Your documents are processed by AI models to generate explanations and summaries.

Account Information

If you create an account, we collect your email address and password (stored securely hashed). Anonymous users receive a temporary account linked to their browser session.

Usage Data

We collect basic usage data to improve the service: pages visited, features used, and error logs. We do not use third-party analytics trackers.

How We Use Your Information

  • To provide and improve our reading assistance services
  • To process your documents with AI models for explanations and summaries
  • To maintain your account and reading history
  • To communicate service updates (registered users only)

AI Processing

Documents you upload are processed by third-party AI models to generate explanations and summaries. We send relevant text excerpts to these models for processing. We do not use your documents to train AI models.

Data Retention

Anonymous accounts and their associated documents are automatically deleted after 7 days of inactivity. Registered users can delete their account and all associated data at any time.

Data Security

We use industry-standard security measures including encrypted connections (HTTPS), secure password hashing, and access controls. Documents are stored in secured cloud storage.

Cookies

We use only essential cookies for session management and security (CSRF protection). We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.

You have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data. To exercise these rights, contact us at [email protected].
